PHOENIX -- The D-backs offense seemed unstoppable Saturday night.Right up until the lights at Chase Field went out.With the D-backs up on the Giants, 11-2, Aaron Hill led off the seventh inning with a single up the middle and right after that the stadium lights went out at 7:46 p.m. MST. The scoreboard and sound system remained in working order.Umpires pulled the Giants off the field while they d bc football iscussed the situation with D-backs officials. The game resumed after a 28-minute delay.After the game, the D-backs issued a statement:"According to APS [Arizona Public Service], a microburst hit the Phoenix area and took out 1 of 2 APS substations that feeds Chase Field. The transfer switch did transfer to the backup feeder resulting in minimal power outage to the stadium. However, the stadium is bc football equipped with high-pressure sodium lights which shut down when experiencing a voltage drop causing the outage. After shutting down, they require a cool off period then a re-strike, which takes 20 minutes."Following the delay, the D-backs continued hitting, tacking on three more runs in the seventh inning en route to a 15-2 win.A night after the D-backs clinched the National League West title, 49, bc football 076 fans were on hand for the third sellout of the season. bc football
