In the shootout, Pavel Datsyuk's backhand deke attempt was stopped by Roloson but the Red Wings scored on their final two attempts to secure the win. Jason Williams was able to deke and beat Roloson high glove side while Zetterberg scored five-hole. Pisani and Sergei Samsonov were both unsuccessful in their shootout attempts. Edmonton came flying out of the gate early with Ryan Smyth rifling a sh capital football ot that Legace had to be sharp on to make a glove save. A minute later on Edmonton's first power play of the night, Smyth flicked a wrister from in-close that Legace kicked out his right leg to turn away. Shots on goal were 6-0 Oilers before Detroit got its first shot on Roloson - a weak shot from just inside the blueline at the five-minute mark. Detroit capitalized on its first power play of the capital football night after Chris Pronger cleared the puck over the glass for a delay-of-game penalty. Nicklas Lidstrom wristed a shot from the left circle that missed the net but bounced off the end boards right to Henrik Zetterberg who deposited the puck in the open cage. Edmonton had a chance to tie the game on a power play of their own less than a minute later and while Detroit penalty killers were able to ki capital football ll the penalty, three seconds after it expired Jarret Stoll ripped a point shot that beat a screened Legace to the glove side. Stoll almost gave the Oilers the lead several minutes after tying it up as he and Marc-Andre Bergeron worked a nice give-and-go. Bergeron fed Stoll who one-timed it off the crossbar. After one period, shots were 9-8 for the Oilers.Roloson carried his strong play into the s capital football econd period where he came across to deny Kris Draper with a shoulder save early. Michael Peca almost broke the deadlock when Chelios gave the puck away in front of his own net but Peca's shot went high. Rexall Place fans got a little restless seven minutes into the period after a pair of non-calls by referees Mike Leggo and Chris Rooney. Radek Dvorak was checked from behind into the boards at one capital football end of the ice and at the other end, Yzerman tripped Roloson in his crease. The fans became incensed when Raffi Torres was the one sent to the box for bumping Yzerman.The best chance on the ensuing power play went to Lidstrom who wired a shot from the point off the post. Other than that, Oilers penalty killers were able to limit Detroit's chances. For the second time on the night, the Oilers scor capital football ed just as their power play was coming to an end. Steve Staios blasted a shot from the right point that made its way through a screen before beating Legace blocker side. The goal gave Edmonton its first lead on the night at 2-1.After the goal, Edmonton went right back on the power play. Some slick passing by Hemsky and Samsonov almost put them up by a pair. The play drew a penalty to Chelios, putt capital football ing the Oilers on a two-man advantage for 1:42. Edmonton put a lot of pressure on the Red Wings, generating three shots on the power play but couldn't beat Legace. With 12 seconds left in the five-on-three, Ryan Smyth was sent off for tripping giving Detroit its third power play of the night. It didn't take the Wings long to convert as Chelios picked up the box after coming out of the box. The vet capital football eran defenceman was able to break in alone after Chris Pronger tripped up skating back. After faking a slap shot from the right circle, Chelios wristed it low past Roloson. The second period ended like the first with both teams tied. Shots after two were 21-18 for the Oilers.Detroit took the lead early in the third period after former Oiler Dan Cleary rushed up ice with Tomas Holmstrom. Cleary fir capital football ed a shot on net and the rebound came out to Holmstrom who was able to deposit it into the open side. Midway through the period with the Red Wings looking for an insurance marker Roloson came up with a big stop on Zetterberg. The Oilers netminder looked to have tweaked his right knee on the play but was able to skate it off on the TV timeout. On an Edmonton power play several minutes later, Manny capital football Legace came up with a pair of huge stops to hold on to the lead. Legace first denied Smyth and then stretched across to rob Samsonov on the rebound.The Oilers looked to be on the ropes with just over two minutes left in the game and Jarret Stoll serving a penalty but Fernando Pisani was able to score a shorthanded marker to tie the game at 3-3. Pisani picked up the puck off the end boards, cut in capital football front and backhanded it five-hole through Legace. After regulation time, shots on goal were 27-25 for the Oilers.
