ANAHEIM -- Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo, a leading candidate for the American League Rookie of the Year Award, will miss the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his right foot.Trumbo, who has been playing through the ailment for about six weeks, was examined on Monday by Lewis Yocum, the team orthopedist. A battery of tests, including an X-ray, an MRI and a CT scan, uncovered a stres football tables s fracture of the navicular bone on the top of the foot."It's been bothering me for about a month and a half," said Trumbo, who was removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics at Angel Stadium after three at-bats. "It got to a point where I felt very limited. I felt it could cost us if I wasn't able to get to a ball."Trumbo said surgery was not mentioned by the Angels' medical staff, and the football tables fracture is expected to heal naturally.The adrenaline that comes with competing, he believes, enabled him to play first base and lead the club in home runs (29) and RBIs (87) while physically impaired."It gets better with limited activity," he said.
