CLEVELAND -- The Indians' batting order received a boost Monday, though the return of Grady Sizemore wasn't enough to solve Tigers starter Doug Fister. The center fielder played for the first time since July 17, going 0-for-4 with an RBI groundout out of the leadoff hole in the Tribe's 4-2 loss against AL Cenral-leading Detroit."Obviously, I haven't played games in five or six weeks, so I'm a litt football teams le rusty," Sizemore said. "But I felt good out there. We didn't get the outcome we wanted, but it's going to be an adjustment coming back these first couple games."Sizemore had surgery to correct a sports hernia on July 21, just four days after exiting a game at Baltimore in which he suffered a right knee contusion. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 18, when it was decided that Siz football teams emore would have surgery on the hernia rather than delay it until the offseason.Sizemore played three games for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus this week on a rehab assignment. He went 4-for-11 with a double and an RBI."He said that he was ready to go," manager Manny Acta said. "And this was the best he was going to feel going forward."Despite his insistence on being ready to contribute, Size football teams more cautioned that he hasn't quite returned to full health."I'm still working through a knee injury and I'm coming off of surgery," Sizemore said. "There's going to be a little rust. I'm not going to just come out there and be 100 percent and in midseason form."That rust was apparent on Monday, as Sizemore fell victim to two of Fister's career-high 13 strikeouts."He just made good pitches," Sizem football teams ore said. "He worked the count well, he got ahead of guys. He just didn't give us much to hit."Sizemore was eager to return to the big league club, which finds itself a season-high 7 1/2 games behind the Tigers."Obviously, the timing works out well seeing as how we're playing Detroit and we're chasing those guys," Sizemore said. "It just kind of worked out that way."Sizemore won't play every day, football teams and could see time at designated hitter when 41-year-old Jim Thome needs a day off, Acta said."Obviously, I'm not going to go out there and play seven out of seven in the first week," Sizemore said. "We're just going to go one day at a time."Sizemore is batting .233 with 10 home runs and 30 RBIs in 62 games this season."It's exciting to have him back," Acta said. "We understand that in any other n football teams ormal situation, he could probably use more time down there. But we're not in any type of normal situation." football teams
