KANSAS CITY -- Everyday Esky is taking a couple days off.Shortstop Alcides Escobar, who played in all but one of the Royals' previous 139 games this season, was out of the lineup on Saturday, and is expected to be absent again on Sunday because of a sprained left ankle.Chris Getz started at shortstop against the Indians and manager Ned Yost had planned to play Getz on Sunday to give Escobar a bre football teams ak anyway. Yost believes Escobar could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday at Oakland."I don't think it's going to be a thing that's going to linger seven to 10 days," Yost said.Even so, the Royals took the precaution of recalling infielder Yamaico Navarro from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday."It just did didn't make any sense if something happened to Getz or to Moose [third baseman Mike Moustakas] football teams , or to [second baseman Johnny] Giavotella, that we'd put Brayan Pena on the infield," Yost said.Pena, the Royals' backup catcher since Salvador Perez arrived, is the primary emergency infielder. Outfielder Mitch Maier, who spent a season at third base, was another possibility.Navarro, obtained from the Red Sox in the trade for infielder Mike Aviles, was hitting .272 in 25 games for Omaha. He had football teams three hits, including a home run on Friday night in Omaha's 15-5 win over Iowa."I feel great. I think in Omaha I had a lot of good swings, a lot of good at-bats. I'm ready to play," Navarro said.Although Omaha starts the playoffs on Wednesday, Yost said that Navarro likely will remain with Kansas City even when Escobar returns to the lineup. football teams
