The sixth annual Compton Urban Youth Academy Celebrity Golf Tournament is slated for Friday, and several big names are on tap to participate.Frank Robinson, a special advisor to Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, will serve as host to the tourney, which will take place at the Industry Hills Golf Club at the Pacific Palms Resort. Joining Robinson will be fellow Hall of Famers Rod Carew football west and Eddie Murray, NBA legends Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, former All-Stars Gary Sheffield, Fernando Valenzuela, Dave Stewart and Bob Welch, Reds manager Dusty Baker, Dodgers first baseman James Loney, Mariners outfielder Trayvon Robinson -- a UYA product -- and several others. Each guest will join one of 36 foursomes that will have a chance to win an assortment of prizes, including first-, second football west - and third-place finishes; closest to the pin; and men's and women's longest drive. Registration costs $550 per person or $2,200 for a foursome, and can be completed on MLB.com. Tickets for the dinner ($80) and sponsorship packages are also available. Previous events have raised up to $90,000.
