TORONTO (AP) #8212;The Toronto Blue Jays don #8217;t intend to let manager JohnFarrell leave for the same job with the Boston Red Sox.The Jays issued a statement Tuesday that said employees won #8217;t be permittedto leave for the same job in another organization #8212;essentially blocking a moveby Farrell back to the Red Sox. #8220;Due to the distraction caused by media speculation regarding fox sports our employeepermission policy, the Toronto Blue Jays have amended their policy and will notgrant permission for lateral moves, #8221; the team said in a statement.General manager Alex Anthopoulos had previously said employees werepermitted to speak with any team about any job.During a conference call on Tuesday, he was reversed course. #8220;Totally, 100 percent, lateral moves (will be blocked), fox sports #8221; Anthopoulos said. #8220;That #8217;s exactly the way it reads. #8221;Farrell spent four seasons as Boston #8217;s pitching coach before being hired tomanage the Blue Jays last year. The team finished fourth in the AL East with an81-81 record in his first season on the job.On Sunday, the Boston Globe reported the Red Sox had interest in bringingFarrell back as manager.Anthopoulos said the sp fox sports eculation about Farrell was becoming a distraction. #8220;I think we have to constantly adjust to the times, #8221; Anthopoulos said. #8220;The game continues to change and we have to continue to adjust to make surethat we maintain the core values of the ball club. #8221;The Red Sox are going through a shakeup following one of the biggestSeptember collapses in major league history. They blew a nin fox sports e-game lead in thewild card over the final month of the season and missed the playoffs.Manager Terry Francona was dismissed and general manager Theo Epstein joinedthe Chicago Cubs.
