BALTIMORE -- All-Star outfielder Adam Jones had an MRI on Saturday, but according to manager Buck Showalter, the results didn't offer any additional information about Jones' injured thumb. Jones hurt his thumb on Sept. 9 at Toronto. "I think the MRI was just more definitive about what is going on there, but nothing that was conclusive and something different than the X-ray. He will still be day mock draft to day," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. Matt Angle got the start in center field and led off in the Orioles 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels Saturday. The 26-year-old Jones was penciled into Friday's lineup, but was scratched after taking batting practice. After the Orioles 8-3 victory over the Angels, Jones said the thumb became sorer as the swings piled up. "We could have pushed it. mock draft In a different situation, he could probably have played through it," said Showalter, adding he believes Jones will play again this year, but the risk and type of injury cannot be ignored. "I do think the potential that one solid jam shot in there... unfortunately that's a real area of the body that is a challenge physically." Machado did much to advance that theory when he smacked a three-run during an 11-run third inning in the Carolina League Championship on Friday. The Class A Frederick Keys defeated the Kinston Indians 11-3 to win the championship. After losing Game 1 of the best-of-five-series, mock draft the Keys won three straight en route to the franchise's fourth championship in its 23-year history. It was the first title for any of the Orioles minor league affiliates since the Keys' win in 2007. Guthrie (8-17, 4.22), who tops the American League in losses, is 1-1 with a 1.63 ERA in three appearances against the Red Sox this season. Matusz (1-7, 9.84) has lost all four of his starts since returning to the rotation. The left-hander has allowed 22 runs in 17 1/3 innings with 15 strikeouts. "It kind of looks like Matusz in game two," mock draft Showalter said. "Brian's worked hard; he would start one of those games." Worth noting After Kevin Gregg labored through a 43-pitch, ninth inning on Friday, Showalter said "he would try and stay away from him [Saturday]."
